Yakub "Superman" Shidaev

The Birth of "Superman"

On Saturday, February 14, the opening round of the inaugural Worlds Collide Boxing and MMA tournament got underway, in Primm Valley, Nevada, at the Star of the Desert Arena. Yakub “Superman” Shidaev entered the tournament ready to embark on a professional career as a prize fighter. The 20 year old Shidaev had a successful amateur career, competing in numerous international tournaments. As soon as the bell rang, Yakub found himself under the bright lights for his 4 round 142 pound contest without any protective headgear. “I knew he was going to come out blazing, so I stay relaxed and caught a few of his punches with my gloves. I was able to learn quickly that this was just like sparring,” stated Yakub. He was able to settle in quickly and unleash his impressive offensive arsenal. “I knew I had him when I hit him with a body shot and he grabbed me and moaned. I was able to use my combinations to catch him with some good shots.” Yakub was able to knockdown Horacio after a series of punches early in the 1st round. Horacio was on wobbly legs barely able to beat the count. He wasn’t able to recover from being hurt, as “Superman” jumped on his opponent to knock him down again to close out the fight. The official time was 1:45 of the first round. Yakub Shidaev 1-0 (1 KO) moves on to next round of the tournament which will take place in August, at the Star of the Desert Arena.
